Hands down one of the most beautiful shops I have walked into. Bold statement but the truth. It was a breath of fresh air to see an american shop put so much time and thought into the look, feel, and over all vibe to their store. Most shops just toss the same shit on the racks and call it a day. This shop had something for every one. They stocked everything from Fixed gear bike parts to skateboards and motorcross gear. This to me was a true streetwear shop they embodied what it ment to be apart of a mash culture. The Stocked all your normal brands, some local brands along with there own. They did stock very heavy on west cost style fashion, which is a good thing because the east has nothing to show. The Down fall of the shop was the fact that they had something for every one. I think they had one shirt in my size, and no hats that would fit me. They had a lot of ones and twos of items. Other then that a great shop to stop by when you are in town. Here are some flicks to check it out.

Major DC Another landmark

MAJOR

1426 Wisconsin Avenue NW, in the heart of Georgetown Shopping District.

web site: http://www.majordc.com

On my recent trip to our nation capital I was told that I need to take a little time out of my site seeing hours and stop by and store in Georgetown called Major. So after pulling my arm I decided to stop in and check it out. When i first walked into the place I was so overwelmed I think it’s becuase  im not really a shoe guy and this place had shoes for days. I guess if you are a shoe head this is your stopping point in the US im not just talking in DC or even the eastern area the whole fucking USA. The Guy that was with me was a shoe head and he about shit himself when he saw the collection of rare kicks on every wall. I’m more the New era hat kinda guy and this place was a heaven set for me as well. !!!!Shelves of great styles!!!!  Ok lets cut this shit short before I start sucking some Major dick here  HAHAHAHA. The place is the shit they have great brands fucking amazing hats, bags, and most of all (for you dumb shoe heads) a crap load of shoes. I don’t need to label off the brands you just need to stop in and check it out. Wait I forgot the most important thing !!!!!!!   There is no Shit head cool guy go fuck your self attitude. I rocked in, in some old beat up vans and they still took the time to chat me up.   Hit this place when you are in town because it’s one of the best stores I have been in.

Premium Goods – Brooklyn, NY

I recently visited this shop in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn and left with mixed feelings. I have heard about this shop and a friend had told me about their gear, so i was curious to see what they have to offer as well as check out their line. The shop is pretty nice, small but neatly put together. Some brooklyn focused artwork on the walls, a decent sneaker selection and…it kind of ends right there. There are a limited amount of t-shirts available, and out of 4 shelves one featured exclusively Rogue Status, which i would consider somewhat played out. It is a skate company owned by Rob Dyrdek, and even though i appreciate DC, Rob and his business ventures, the design with the guns going diagonally across the shirt has been rocked to death. On the other hand i must say that that the tees and hats by premium goods, with the word “brooklyn” across in a simple font but with each letter in a different color and on a neutral background is fresh as hell. It’s a very simple way to make a clean, impressive shirt / hat and since a garment with simply “brooklyn” on it has been done a million times, they managed to make an interesting and clean version of it. I really liked it and might go back to cop one of each.

Now let me discuss what left a sour taste in my mouth: first of all, the selection was very limited. A few tees, even less hoodies / jackets, and one style of hat (their own) in 4 colorways. Though the sneaker selection was not bad at all, the rest is really slim pickins. “Why have a shop ?” is the eternal question with nyc streetwear stores. There is a reason why only the shops with great selection stay in business, and even a lot of them are struggling. But the coup de grace for me was really the complete and absolute lack of any service whatsoever. The owners (as i came to find out), chilled outside the store chatting with each other. No one even entered the store while i was in there. No “hey check this out” or “let me know if you like something” or “hey we just got these dope sneakers in”. There used to be such a thing as a hustle, but these days it seems like everyone is too cool to even budge. Or scared to. Now i understand that you’re the king of the universe for owning a shop, but you’re just being rude, pathetic and downright an asshole, for ignoring your clientele. It’s just tiring. No wonder these shops are folding one after another. To be honest: Good Riddance! Shove that attitude where the sun don’t shine, and make room for people who are genuinely interested in the hustle, in providing quality gear to their clients and who are interested in meeting people and creating a streetwear community. I felt like i was not even allowed to step foot in that place. What a pathetic bunch.

If you feel like copping some of their gear, i say go ahead, it’s pretty cool. But if you expect to be treated like a human being, yeah…not gonna happen. All in all, don’t waste your time on this shop. There are much better ones where the staff actually cares about you and spends time helping you select cool gear as well as introduce you to lines you might have never heard of.

The hustle is officially dead. It’s just a bunch of posers. Next!

Front Street New York

frontstreet

47 Orchard St. New York, NY 10002

Open Daily 12-7pm

I really wanted to like this shop I even went back 4 different times, but in the end I can not give them a good review. The shop is very bare at first I thought that they were going out of Biz but it seemed that each time I came in there was a differnt 8 shirts of the rack. frontstreetnewyork5I posted this photo because this is what I thought that I was going to find. No joke this was not it. I do have to give them credit for pricing their shoes very fair. So if you are looking for some ok looking shoes at a really good price then this is your stop. They carry the same stuff that David Z would but I say support the small local shop. Now to the last bad remark then I will stop. Each time I walked in there was that to cool for school GUY standing behind the counter not even giving me the time of day. HELLO I came here to spend money!!!! 4 times is enough for me there are a ton of other stores I can spend my money in. Front street is out.

Stumble It!

This shop is everything 80’s I have no Idea if that is good or bad. I guess it all depends on what “Neighborhood” you live in. So I guess this is good news for all of you wanna be Hipsters that never had a chance to be apart of the 80’s. Other then that this shop is what it is, and for what it it is a think it just an ok shop. I guess I am really in the middle of the road with this place.

Prodigy New York City

prodigynyc

Hype Shoe stores in New York City. Places with Throwback Nikes.

Prodigy NYC

17 ave B
new york, ny 10009
212.228.4737

Most of the time I don’t even take the time to walk in to shoe stores like this but I had a few seconds to kill before dinner. And After wasting my time by walking into Prodigy NYC I will never make that mistake again. First off the whole I am to cool to talk to you because I rock some throwback nikes is over. This by far was one of the worst shops I have ever been in. No one asked me for help as a matter of fact I don’t even think they gave shit I was in their store. This shop as nothing to offer to the shoe culture. If you must support nikes I say spend your money at some other shop like KCDC or Flight club. Prodigy NYC just needs to burn down.
